Forced or involuntary labour

GTE will not use forced or involuntary labour of any type (e.g., forced, bonded, indentured or involuntary prison labour) employment is voluntary.

Child labour

GTE will not use child labour. The term "child" refers to any employed person under the age of 16, or under the age for completing compulsory education, or under the minimum age for employment in the country, whichever is highest. We support the use of legitimate workplace apprenticeship, internship and other similar programs that comply with all laws and regulations applicable to such programs.

Wages and benefits

GTE will, at a minimum, comply with all applicable wage and labour laws and regulations, including those relating to minimum wages, overtime hours, piece rates, nonexempt or exemption classification and other elements of compensation, and provide legally mandated benefits.

Working hours

GTE will not exceed maximum hours of work prescribed by law and will appropriately compensate overtime. Employees will not be required to work more than 48 hours per week, including overtime, except in extraordinary business circumstances with their consent or where the nature of the position requires such work, as for exempt employees and employees in executive, managerial or professional positions. In countries where the maximum work week is shorter, that standard shall apply. Employees should be allowed every Sunday off per seven-day week.

Non-discrimination and harassment

GTE will not discriminate in hiring, promotion, compensation of employees and employment practices on grounds of race, color, religion, age, nationality, social or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, marital status, pregnancy, political affiliation, disability or veteran status. GTE will create a work environment free of discrimination or harassment based on race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age or veteran status.

Respect and dignity

GTE will treat all employees with respect and dignity and will not use corporal punishment, threats of violence or other forms of physical coercion or harassment.

Health and safety

GTE will provide its employees with a safe and healthy workplace in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Consistent with these obligations, GTE will have and will implement effective programs that encompass things such as life safety, incident investigation, chemical safety, ergonomics, and will provide safe standards of health and safety in any housing and transportation provided for our employees by the company.

Protection of the environment

GTE is committed to worldwide leadership in environmental protection. In addition to complying with applicable environmental laws and regulations, every employee must comply with GTE's environmental policy and the corporate directives and requirements that support that policy. Employees are expected to report any environmental concern or violation of environmental law or GTE requirements to their management. Managers are expected to take prompt action.

Laws, including regulations and other legal requirements

GTE will comply with all applicable laws, regulations and other legal requirements in all locations where it conducts business.

Ethical dealings

GTE expects its employees to conduct business in accordance with the highest ethical standards, and maintains Business Conduct Guidelines that employees are required to follow. GTE strictly complies with all laws and regulations on bribery, corruption and prohibited business practices.

Communications

GTE makes available to all employees open communications channels for suggestions and complaints to management. GTE maintains channels for direct contact with the corporate office for employee complaints, including any form of harassment including sexual harassment.

Monitoring/record keeping

GTE will perform business audits to ensure adherence to our policies, practices and procedures. We will keep records in accordance with local laws and regulations.

Environment Friendly

Our sustainable efforts for eco-friendly environment are : Afforestation :
  • We have planted over 5000 trees in fiscal year 2012 on various rural and agricultural plots through our go green initiatives.
  • We have maintained nursery to grow thousands of plants for afforestation.
  • Our Nursery also contains Honey Bees.
Watershed Area & Rain Harvesting :
  • We implemented rainwater harvesting initiative for sustainable water consumption within all our premises.
  • We have also constructed water storage tank with capacity of 2.5 lakhs liters above ground level with low-flow fixtures and innovative landscaping for irrigation technique.
  • With our conscious efforts to save rain water, we have created huge watershed at two locations one in Tumkur district, Bellavi, Hobli, P. Gollahalli village and the other at Yagati pura, Yagathi Hobli, Kadur taluk, Chikkamagaluru district having capacity of 14 million litres and 20 million litres respectively.
Non-conventional Energy Resources / Renewable Energy :

We have adopted Gobar Gas , Bio-mass and Solar Power for cooking, lighting purpose.

Information ( IT ) Energy Use :

Our IT Sustainability program generates significant cost savings while delivering innovative solutions to support internal customer’s IT needs. We have achieved significant power consumption reduction through server virtualization, energy-efficient data center design, adoption of cloud computing. We have implemented virtual desktops and thin clients to further reduce the power requirements and reduce electronic waste.

Rural Development

We actively participate in the welfare of the local community. Our Rural Development initiative in Karnataka made a significant contribution.

We organize and contribute to welfare programs, especially for underprivileged Village Schools. We support the activities of institutes and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) dedicated to education.

Rural Development Activity :

Changadahally School and Yeslur School: Are remote village schools located in Sakleshpur Taluk of Hassan District, Karnataka. Our team visited Changadahally and Yeslur School, now those schools possess computer lab sponsored and maintained by us, where village school children can learn computer skills and access the world via WWW.

GTE Computer lab set up :

To remove the curse of illiteracy from society and to enlighten the students who will become the hope of tomorrow, we have successfully set up computer labs in 3 underprivileged schools. The computer labs are equipped with PC’s, servers, thin client, speakers and network outlet box. The newly established computer lab is offering them a ray of hope. This is how we have made difference.

Siddalingeshwara Dasoha Seva Sangha :

Is a NGO, founded mainly for making arrangement of prasada for the devotees visiting “Sri Tontada Siddalingeshwara Temple”, located in Yediyur, Karnataka. GTE has upgraded facilities of this organization by providing Computer Center which includes (UPS, Printers, PC’s), developed website (http://siddalingeshwaradasoha.org/) and online payment gateway.

Army Welfare Fund Battle Casualty :

Indian Army has opened an account named Army Welfare Fund Battle Casualties, which accepts donations for the families of battle casualties. The donations received in the fund are utilized to pay financial assistance / grant to widows of our Battle Casualties, their next of kins and dependents. For more information please click here.
